Certi Congo is our African partner whose mission is to run carbon compensation projects across the Congo River basin, in relation with local stakeholders.
Its members’ experiences feature skillsets balanced between specific knowledge, field experience and network. They’re able to run and develop carbon compensation projects and strategies.
Established in 2020 in DRC, it has an asset of 15 forest conservation concessions which represent a surface of around 3 million hectares, among which 27% are peatlands constituting high carbon stocks.
Sustainable forest management policies and programs developed over the last 20 years across their concessions made it possible to actively involve local communities in this virtuous journey.
They gather all the skills to perform:
Biodiversity inventories,
Forest mapping,
Socio-economic diagnosis and human impact evaluation on natural resources
Emissions reduction of millions tCO2 per year
Forest management capacity building
Forests’ rate loss decrease in DRC
Poverty reduction
Livelihood improvement
