SDGs

Below, the most obvious impacts of our actions towards a better forest preservation through REDD+ and ARR projects.

Forest preservation x SDGs

No poverty

Forests deliver incomes to millions of people and are the source of diverse value chains. Yet, the inhabitants of these dwindling habitats feature as some of the most marginalized. Investing fairly in forest preservation enhances communities’ economic resilience.

Zero hunger

Forests are a direct source of food but also support the productivity of agro-ecosystems.

Good Health and Well-Being

Through our operating partners, we finance health centres in the concessions we conserve while preserved forests contribute to the physical and mental well-being of local populations.

Quality Education

We enhance primary and secondary schools finance in conservation concessions.

Gender Equalty

be clear, a disproportionately small or large number of women? add why it’s good if it’s large and add what would be done to favour corrective representation, such as girls’ schooling.
A disproportionate[ly large/small] number of women are leaders of community forest group. Women leaders are known to settle conflicts peacefully and manage budgets more viably than men. Mandatory girls schooling shall be promoted while the role of women is to be reinforced in agricultural marketing processes, consolidating local communities’ economy.

Clean water and sanitation

Clean water and sanitation: Forests play major roles in the occurrence of water cycles. Amongst others by favouring infiltration into phreatic sources where wells pump drink-water. All the while, forests avoid soil erosion and superficial flow causing turbidity of superficial waterbodies such as rivers.

Affordable and clean energy

Improved stoves halve firewood extraction, preferably sourced from agroforestry on degraded land. We aim to invest in the production of renewable energy in collaboration with local partners, favouring technologies such as Waste to Energy, Biomass and Mini-Hydropower.

Decent work and economic growth

carbon offset projects employ locals in all sectors of the economy. Their long lifespan anchor stable incomes and wealth improvement perspectives. Local contributors to the projects’ certification get recruited as equity partners of local affiliated companies instead of consultants or employees. This translates into a substantial opportunity capacitating the middle class out of the Economic transition and Carbon finance.

Industry, innovation and infrastructure

Still looking for concrete actions and partners to have a positive impact on this one.

Reduced inequalities

Investing directly and indirectly in some of the world-economy’s most isolated communities, our projects, such as forest conservation, foster local workforce and expertise in favour of a fair global development model.

Sustainable cities and communities

Our projects’ sites, such as KFBS’ concession settlements, beneficiate from enhanced construction, energy and logistical infrastructure plans as compared to the rest of the DRC. Sustainable agriculture and Renewable energy programs render communities more sustainable and eventually free from dependencies degrading forest resources.

Responsible consumption and production

Making the commodity supply chain more substainable reduces the pressures on forests.

Climate action

This is the most evident contribution of carbon offset projects which reduce the atmosphere’s warming capacity by removing greenhouse gases responsible for higher heat uptake. For example, the preservation of a huge nature-based carbon sequestration tool that tropical forests themselves constitute, Yahuma Sud REDD+ saves 3,5 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent from being released annually.

Life en land

Tropical land concessions’ rich biodiversity is protected by various safeguards. A conservation program involving eco-rangers backs up the newly sanctified endemic species whose status earns added value standing thanks to the project. Locals also refrain from rural exodus with improving living conditions, conserving their forest cultures.

Peace, justice and strong institutions

Partnerships for the goals

Developed by an international partnership between North and South stakeholders, entrepreneurs from the primary, secondary and service sectors, public entities ranging from customary chiefs up to national authorities, NGO’s, and NPO’s, academic and research institutions, carbon offset projects epitomize sustainable development and cooperation/aid ambitions for inclusive human and natural solutions to the environmental crisis.
